WoW In-game booty-call.
I think if I had to make an ad for pretty much any gamer Con I’d write it like this:
“Yes geeks and nerds, you’ve heard right, the day to start saving up your spare change from under the couch cushions has been announced. Course you’ll need to drop some cash to get to Cali for the BlizzCon in October (22-23).
You now can make all your in-game boot-knockin’ a reality by meeting up with your online gamer sexting partner for a real, live, booty-call! Best thing is… no one will know! You just tell the wife or hubby that you’re going to the gamer con, let them roll their eyes, and take off with your little secret! It’s better than Vegas man! What happens at the con, stays at the con!”

I’m sorry, I’ve got a jaded view of the cons 
I’ve been propositioned to go to cons for years. At least a dozen times in the last decade (yeah I’ve been gaming a while >>). While I think GenCon is probably the worst, there really is no con out there that’s safe from it, even the business or financial ones. The gaming cons are, by far, the worst though.
Sorta like with GenCon and the game I played before WoW, if you went to the con people knew why you were going. There’s all sorts of ‘secrets’ people help each other perpetuate in the con. Like 2 guys sharing a room and two gals sharing a room, but the ‘online couples’ set it up that way so their ‘others’ wouldn’t find out and then swap spots in the hotel rooms when they get there.
Ah but that’s something ALOT of people don’t know about cons for some reason… practically everyone stays in the hotels closest to the con… which puts a ton of con people in the same hotels.
Funny thing is, people actually think this is all a secret. So let me tell you mine… I’ve never been to a con! If things were really a secret, I wouldn’t know 
Yet I have had people ask me to:
1. Go to the con specifically to have as much sex as possible before it ends – sorry, that’s just a bit too trashy for me.
2. Contact their significant other for them cause their too busy gettin’ it on with the in-game guy. (sorry, said they could drag their lazy ass outta bed and do it themselves)
3. Look at pictures showing people in large dog piles of nakedness because a whole guild got drunk and randy. (Of course I looked!)
4. Listen to their sob story cause their online love turned out to not be who they thought they were. (Unfortunately, I listened. I don’t learn.)
5. Be a bridesmaid in an online-couple wedding where the ceremony will take place at a con. (Hell no. I have never been to a con.)
6. …and more explicit things I’m going to attempt to rip from my memory forcefully.
Again, people deceive themselves into thinking it’s all going to be a secret, yet everyone in their online world knows (or at least suspects).

I have a great friend I’ve known for years who went to a con and screwed a married woman. He actually thought no one would know.. of course he’s friends with her husband. But apparently they didn’t realize that their in-game relationship everyone knew about, and their in-person meeting at the con, coupled with the disappearance of them both last seen in the hotel lobby…. was going to solidify their fate (even if they hadn’t later been sloppy enough to get caught coming out of the hotel room together, it would’ve been enough). By the way, he lived in Europe and flew to the con – so don’t assume people who don’t live in the states don’t go.
There is a flip-side! COUPLES who go to the con together usually don’t have as much sex but actually get to see stuff! Why? Cause they’re already knocking boots every night and don’t need to waste good trip money to do that when they’ve come to see the con!
Oh I know I know, people think it’s just a story, there’s nothing real that could come out of it. They’re just characters right? hehehe, yeah you’ve totally been sold on it by someone eh? First off, in some games, there are major sexual aids (Second Life comes to mind) that make acting it out explicitly in game super easy. Second, even without that, text is powerful enough (that’s why books sell!). Finally, do you honestly think text is all there can be? How about a private Vent room, ingame chat server, or Skype for some ‘internet phone sex’.
I remember coming across this forum post ages ago (from 2005) and laughing my ass off. Sorry, WoW is just not the best medium for online sex. I was reminded of it by a recent post from Wow.com in which there is advice about how most appropriately to use words that will describe in-game sex while in a sexter ERP’r (Erotic Role Player – apparently the politically correct and preferred word) roleplay session with another character . Dude… if you need help with that… oi. Well I guess you can always read the article on how to be an RP Sex Genius in WoW.
Anyway, so the international booty call.. yeah, it’s in October. Go get your tickets you cute little tramps, just remember… I’m not covering for ya while you’re in “Vegas.”

As the author of the “Be an RP Sex Genius” post, I’d like to remind you to check the date on it. It was, and remains, an April Fool’s Joke. I don’t advocate – or even particularly understand – using WoW (or other games) for sex (something I’ve made other posts about).
